This will be the 9th year of this open source executive event. I was privileged to attend last year in Calistoga, California, and I was invited back again this year. Last year was partly focused around OpenStack. We all broke off into groups to discuss things and I answered questions on OpenStack governance. It was interesting to meet many different people with a variety of roles. I was glad to communicate what OpenStack was about and what it wasn’t. It was a thought provoking experience at a great location and helped shape my thinking for 2013. Thanks to Andrew Aitken, Mark Radcliffe, the rest of the Black Duck Software team that put on the event.
The theme this year will be Open Source – The Engine of Innovation along with a case study on how open source is impacting technologies and “the internet of things.” I have the opportunity speak on behalf of OpenStack this year. If I get slide time, I will do my best to channel Josh. I am thinking dancing cows and natural selection. It probably needs some work. 😉
Jono Bacon, Ubuntu Community Manager and Founder of the Community Leadership Summit, will also be running a community leadership track throughout the OSTT.
The Community Leadership Summit and Open Source Think Tank have partnered to create a unique event designed for executives and managers involved in community management planning and strategic development. While the normal annual Community Leadership Summit serves practicing community managers and leaders well, this unique event is designed to be very focused on executives in a strategic leadership position to understand the value and process of building a community.

Also you will find Jono Bacon hosting his Community Leadership Summit at it’s regular schedule in Portland, Oregon, on 18-19th July just before OSCON.
